“Poetry is what happens when your mind stops working, and for a moment, all you do is feel.”
Truth. That statement holds so much truth. When we quite forcing our brains to think, forcing our ever jumbling thoughts, that’s when we allow words to flow out. That’s when we sit back and just write. Not knowing what comes next but allowing the pen to keep moving across that page to say all the things that need to be said.
There’s something peaceful about those moments, too. A time for reflection. Refreshment after long busy days. A moment to invigorate our senses. It’s those moments we actually soak in the things around us and appreciate so much more in life.
Poetry, this is why I love you so.
……Cue the below.
The sunshine beaming down
Pouring rays on our skin,
Kissing it with light.
Our bodies sinking into rest.
Our minds becoming at ease.
Making it’s presence known to feel the warmth of its touch.
Bringing us to the here and now.
To the beauty of the world around us.
It fills us with a hope and laughter
As it reaches our outer layers.
Eliciting an internal happiness that makes us smile
As we lay,
………Glistening in the gentle breeze.
